If today we remember René Descartes it is neither for his courage nor his greatness, but because of his method.
1) Start with intuition,
2) Sacrifice a principle,
3) Create a conflict,
4) Assume your weaknesses,
5) Cheat to make it work.
Château Descartes is about five acrobats with an appetite for risk, movement and uncertainty. These five heroes seek the limits of the framework imposed and intimately show the impact that this method and school memories have on their lives.
Château Descartes is the story of humankind; it is the confrontation between the world of ideas and the real world. It’s about love. It’s about the things that really matter. But it is not a lesson in philosophy.
Our five heroes are constructors, so they build stuff. But how far will they go?
In Château Descartes, ordinary school chairs become objects of prowess; they come to life and alter how we perceive the world. When they are stacked, higher and higher, doubt sets in and their apparent stability is unmasked : all finally collapses... like a house of cards (« château de cartes » in french).
René Descartes was a wimp with a tragic destiny. Finally we are all a bit like him.
